Potholder Makeover

I recently fell in love with a chain store fabric.
(if it’s killing you to know which major store,
let me save you the mental anguish….it’s wally-world)
Generally, SAS, JoAnns, or Hobby Lobby are my all time favorites, but
I no longer live close to any of those stores.
I am also a “see in person, touch with my own two hands” kind of gal
and I like to know what the weight and texture of the material is like.
And, since I live in a pretty small town, Wally is my main choice.
The fabric is called Cotton Duck Mod Floral.Craft IdeasSuper great colors huh!  Unless you hate green…but I happen to really love it!
I bought one full yard of it, costing me right under $8.00.
First, I cut the yard in half, and sewed the two ends together,
which made a long valance for my kitchen window.Good IdeasI had about a 2’x1′ piece left over,
and I decided to recover my plain black potholders with it!
(I know, super brilliant huh!!)
I had been wanting to buy some new ones that were apple green,
but this was such a better solution!Good IdeasHere is my black potholder.Good IdeasHere is my left-over valance fabric.
I basically, just laid my potholder on top of the fabric and cut around it,
leaving a fourth of an inch of extra fabric all around the  potholder.
(That looks like a potholder with some fabric coming out its’ sides!)
Good IdeasAnd then…I sewed this beauty up!!
I just folded under the edges and sewed it directly to the top of the potholder!
How great is that??!!!!  Good IdeasThere are only two potholders pictured here,
but I was able to sew up six.
How stinkin’ cute!
